Pressure Washing in Paris

Paris sits where the Nith River empties into the Grand River, and in 1846 its industries were already powered by the water. Ground near rivers stays damp, and damp is what algae, moss and slime need. Shaded concrete steps, stone walks and wood decks turn slick, and a slick step is a fall waiting to happen. Pressure washing removes that film and gives the surface its grip back.

Timing and technique matter. Leaves stick to wet steps in fall and rot into a brown stain, so a wash after the leaves are down keeps the stain from setting into porous concrete. Algae grows back fastest where something keeps the surface wet, so we look for the cause: a downspout that drips on the step, a sprinkler, a gutter that overflows. Wood decks get a gentler touch, since a hard jet raises the grain.

Pressure washing starts at $350, and every surface appears in the free written quote. If anything should not be touched, name it in your request. Rinse water stays on your own lot, so we check its route before we start. Book once the weather stays above freezing.

What we plan for in Paris

• Slip check: we look at steps, walks and decks that stay wet and shaded, and treat those first, since algae there is a slipping risk.
• Moisture source: we look for what keeps a surface wet, such as a downspout, sprinkler or overflow, and tell you what we find.
• Surfaces: concrete, stone, wood and brick each get their own pressure and tip, so we list them before we start.
• Leaf stains: we pre-treat brown leaf stains on steps and patios before washing, since they set into porous concrete.
• Water path: on a lot close to the river, we trace where the rinse will flow and keep it away from the bank.
