Gutter Cleaning Cost in Kitchener 2026: Full Price Breakdown by Home Size

By Devon Moore March 23, 2025 4 min read

Home size changes what you pay for gutter cleaning, but not in the way most people expect. Here is the published starting price for Kitchener, how each type of home changes the job, and the measurements a written quote is really built on.

The published starting price, and why it is only a start

D&D Home Services publishes one number for gutter cleaning: from $125 for a typical Kitchener-Waterloo home, with the final price confirmed in writing before work begins. That is deliberately a starting price. Two homes with the same floor area can need very different amounts of time, so a table of exact prices by square footage would be guesswork.

What can be described honestly is the direction: which features push a quote toward that starting figure, and which push it higher.

Home by home: what changes the job

Home typeWhat drives the workDirection for the quote
Townhouse or semiShort eave runs, but narrow side access and often two storeysShorter length helps. Tight access or height can add time
Single-storey bungalowGround-level ladder work, sometimes a long, wide rooflineLow height helps. A long footprint adds eave length
Two-storey detachedEaves at second-storey height, more ladder positions, more riskStorey count is often the biggest single factor
Split-level or back-splitMixed roof heights, several valleys and dropsMore repositioning and more places for debris to gather
Large or custom homeLong runs, steep or complex roofs, dormers and multiple levelsUsually measured or viewed before a price is set

Home type is a shortcut. The four measurements below are what a crew actually prices.

Four measurements that matter more than square footage

  1. Length of eave. Measure the outside of the roof edge, not the floor area. A large, plain rectangle can have less eave than a smaller house with wings and bump-outs.
  2. Height. A second-storey eave means longer ladders, more setups and more safety steps. Read gutter cleaning safety for two-storey homes to see why that costs time.
  3. Debris load. A trough under overhanging maples in late November takes longer than the same trough under bare sky. Wet, packed muck is slower than dry leaves.
  4. Downspouts. Count them. Each one has to be flushed, and a blocked elbow adds work.

You can estimate the first two from a walk around the house. The last two show up only when the crew looks in the trough.

What moves a quote up or down

  • Pushes it up: two or more storeys, steep roofs, dense overhanging trees, blocked downspouts, gutter guards that must be lifted, a locked gate or awkward side access, and repairs found along the way.
  • Also pushes it up: a first visit after several skipped years. Packed, sprouting debris takes longer to remove than a yearly layer does.
  • Keeps it lower: one storey, a simple roof shape, light tree cover, easy access to every side and downspouts that already flow.
  • Stays separate: repairs, resealing, re-hanging and cleaning the outside face of the trough are normally quoted as extras, so check what your written scope includes.

If a price sounds far below the rest, ask what is missing from the scope. Extras and skipped downspouts are the usual answer. Eavestrough and gutter cleaning cost in Ontario explains more of the drivers.

Read your own house in five minutes

You can place your home on the scale before anyone calls. Walk the outside of the house with a pen and paper.

  1. Note the number of storeys on each side. Additions and garages are often lower than the main roof.
  2. Count the corners, wings and bump-outs. Each one adds eave length and usually a downspout.
  3. Mark the sides with trees overhead, and note whether they are maples, oaks or evergreens.
  4. Check access: gates, fences, a narrow side yard, a slope or a deck under the eave.
  5. Write down when the eaves were last cleaned, even if the answer is "I don't know".

A compact single-storey home with light tree cover and easy access sits closest to a starting price. Every extra storey, wing, tree or obstacle moves you along the scale, which is why a crew wants those facts before it commits to a figure.

Get a quote you can compare

Send the address, the number of storeys, a photo or two of the eaves and a note on nearby trees. Ask for the scope in writing, including whether downspouts are flushed and debris is bagged or left on site. Check for liability insurance and WSIB coverage, and compare like with like.

  • Storey count, eave length, debris load and downspout count drive a quote more than floor area does.
  • Extras such as repairs, resealing and cleaning the outside face are normally quoted separately.
  • Ask for the scope in writing, and compare quotes that cover the same work.
